Welcome to

Ristoteca Oniga

A small restaurant in the heart of Venice, a simple cuisine which offers genuine ingredients and flavours, from the Venetian and regional culinary tradition.

The choice of high quality raw materials, with organic products and excellences from the area, including many certified by Slow Food... all this is ONIGA
Our philosophy
The restaurant’s philosophy lies in the continuous search for high quality products. The two owners and their staff use several organic ingredients, especially from small producers which they often visit and know personally... a direct relationship with the producers when possible, seasonal fruit and vegetables, attention to the quality and authenticity of the dishes create a menu that combines taste, tradition and healthy eating.

All this defines the owners’ lifestyle, a daily effort and commitment to guarantee the excellence of the raw materials while respecting tradition, with particular attention to the land.
The Bucintoro Menu
The original.
(Historical notes: the name of the dish derives from the state barge of the doges of La Serenissima, the Ancient Venetian Republic)

Clams, mussels, prawns, calamari, queen scallops and the selected catch of the day from the market... these are the absolute key ingredients for a unique dish of its kind, created in this restaurant many years ago... by Oniga and which defines the link between the two owners with Venice. The Bucintoro is served with a sauce and toasted bread crostoni, to which are added spaghetti from the renowned Pastificio Artigianale Mancini which enhance the aromas and flavours of the sauce and the fish.

The Bucintoro Menu ends with Venetian biscuits accompanied by a glass of sweet wine from Friuli.
Fried squid with glasswort and balsamic vinegar
Sockeye Salmon Burgers with artichokes
We use organic products, such as the gluten-free organic whole-grain Polenta that perfectly describes Venetian cuisine.

The Hamburger of Bianca Piemontese, certified Slow Food, and the fresh fish that comes every day from our local fish market, are testimony to the special love for a healthy, tasty and traditional cuisine.
